Mornings are one of the greatest gifts life has to offer. It is a fresh start and how you spend it sets the tone for the entire day. So what is the optimum way to spend it? Hint: it’s not hitting your snooze button until 15 minutes before you need to leave. If you dream of slow and zen mornings, follow these 5 habits and the rest will follow suit:
Give Yourself Adequate Time to Enjoy the Morning.
This is the most important step. If you do not give yourself the time to enjoy your morning, you are still going to find yourself in a rush to get out the door. Set your alarm for an hour earlier and make yourself get out of bed. Not only will you no longer feel rushed to get out the door, but you’ll feel more alert once you arrive to work and ultimately perform better.
Drink a Glass of Water!
This is a habit you should form regardless of whether you’re trying to make more time for yourself in the morning or not. After sleeping all night, your body is dehydrated and needs water! I know, I know, your morning cup of coffee is something you look forward too, but it will still be waiting for you once you finish drinking that big glass of water.
Eat a Real Breakfast.
It is so important to make sure you are feeding your body real foods at every meal, but especially breakfast! What is a real breakfast? It is a meal that is full of nutrients and healthy fats. It is not sugary cereals or breakfast bars that are full of preservatives! The last thing you need to be doing is getting sucked in by 15 minute Vine Compilations and obligatorily liking those photos of your cousin’s kids.
